A Refreshing Perspective on Attachment Pain

June 08, 2025 by Kailey Mattarella in Poetry

Attachment pain

It stresses your joy vein

Sadness, grief, loss

Connection feels like it’s been tossed

What to do it’s overwhelming your best you

Thankfully there’s hope

A different way to soothe

Making all things new

Freshly re-entering that joyous feeling of youth

But how to do it

Here are a few tips

If you choose to commit

Surely good things will grow

Out of the sorrow you’re holding

Sing, pray, dance

Connect with those friends

Where loss doesn’t stand a chance

Go on that run

Soak in some sun

Tell yourself “this feeling will subside”

“I just need to flow with the tide”

“Tomorrow will be a new day”

“So today I ride the wave”

“Tomorrow I will do the same”

“Til this pain subsides”

“& a fresh tide, shows me a new wave to ride”

Attachment pain. We all feel it. We all experience it. We all have access to solution for it. Let’s learn, together how to ride with the wave of attachment pain so we can live into our most joy-filled, best selves.
